This year’s Scottish MGA Day will start Powmill Milk Bar for sustenance at 10am. It is on the A977 about 10 miles North West of Dunfermline.
Note: This Event is on a Saturday – 27th July 2019
If coming from Dunfermline or the M90 you come via the A823 which is one of my favourite local driving roads that goes past the Knockhill Racing Circuit, or alternatively it is easily accessible from M9 via the Clackmananshire Bridge over the River Forth and then A977.
At around 10.30am we will head north for Aberfeldy starting largely on minor roads via Dunning, Auchterarder, Kinkell Bridge, Fowlis, and Buchanty. We then join the B8063 then the A822/2A826 all the way to Aberfeldy passing through Sma Glen, over some high moors and then getting great views as we descend into the town. From Aberfeldy we head North over the General Wade bridge to the attractive estate village of Fortingall with the tree that claims to be the oldest in Britain. From here we go South to the shores of Loch Tay where we head East to Kenmore for our lunch stop.
Once fed we head South East over an unclassified road. (click on the photo to the left). The start of this road leaves Loch Tay by one of the most vicious short twisty climbs in Scotland, it is great fun, but can be avoided. After crossing high moorland there is a great descent into Glen Quaich then back East to Amulree. Now back on the A822 but going South passing through Crieff. After Muthiil we continue South on the A823 for Gleneagles and Glen Devon before finishing close to where we started.
