Hope you are all well and hunkered down during this pandemic.
The MG season is almost at an end and we unfortunately have had few opportunities to get together. Hopefully next year will be better!
As you are aware there were big plans to celebrate the 90th birthday of MGCC most of which had to be cancelled. Fortunately Kimber House managed to put on a small event last weekend at Gaydon as a token celebration. We suspect there may be greater celebrations next year for the 91st anniversary.
Some of us had thought of going down but Nicola’s request that we do not travel out of our own Health Board area , unless for something essential , put an end to that. But if you would like to catch a flavour of the event then there are some pics on our FB page and for the next few days there will be an item looking back at particular decades in the life of MGCC.
As far as we are concerned we normally have a lunch in November. Leslie Duncan has been speaking to the hotel people about this and this is his update;
A lunch for members has been booked for 22 November since before the pandemic. Under the current restrictions, this lunch may not take place. We have discussed the situation with the Hotel, and they have confirmed that. However, things may well change between now and the 22nd which may allow the lunch to go ahead. The hotel is happy to liaise with us and do whatever they can to accommodate us.
We think it would be difficult for us to suddenly get sufficient numbers together at the last minute to make the lunch viable, and therefore what we would like to do is as follows. If you wish to go, please book your place at the lunch through the website in the normal manner. We will undertake to let you know what the position is nearer the time. Clearly, the rules are changing all the time.
If it looks as though the lunch will take place, we will send information regarding costs etc, although these are unlikely to be different from last year. Obviously social distancing, masks etc will be adhered to.
The booking form for this will be on our website shortly so please book there and we will keep you posted.
Our 2020 AGM , normally held in April was postponed and we intend to hold it on December 1 2020.
However for the first time, it will be a Zoom meeting! We have been holding committee meetings on Zoom but this is a first for an AGM, more info will be issued before then.
One member has some MG books available, see images. If you are interested let me know, the Midget manual is spoken for.
One of our most respected members was the late Dughall Leask. Following a clear out there is a large amount of T type spares available per the attached list. If interested contact John Inglis on the email address shown.
On a personal note I’ve had a couple of F/TF hardtops for a while, just sold the black one but the Trophy blue Heritage type is still here. And does anyone know of a good set of Trophy wheels going abegging?
Think that’s all for now.
Any questions, get in touch.
