….In a year of cancellations and postponements it was good that East Ayrshire Car Club eventually managed to run their 2020 Classic Car Show at Kames. The event had been planned for June and then another two dates were suggested but finally on August 29 it happened!
….With over 500 cars attending on a clear and sometimes sunny day, the event was well supported by show starved enthusiasts all of whom had been well warned to observe social distancing and other Covid 19 regulations…. and it worked!
….We in the Centre had hoped for 25 cars but with the change from a Sunday to Saturday a number of our people had to pull out and we had 17 cars attending including a couple from the 30s right up to a modern MG6. Unusually we had a good turn out of Zeds with Leslie’s 190 saloon. two 190 ZTTs & Brian Radbourne’s newly acquired ZTT 260.
….Due to Covid our catering facilities were withdrawn so for the first time in many years’ entrants had to self-cater!
….But the usual chat, banter and wind ups took place, and everyone enjoyed the day.
….Something which at first appeared to be a wind up but which turned out to be for real was Leslie locking his car keys in the boot! Not a good idea! Various suggestions of help were made including smashing a window but eventually entry was gained by removing a quarter light in the back door. Leslie was relieved!
….….….It was a good day!
