...This year’s August One Day run started early for many of us, with a long drive to assemble at Wemyss Bay for 9:30am, for breakfast and then the ferry to Rothesay on the Isle of Bute.We had 18 cars and almost 40 members/family/friends, some from far and wide, for the trip.
…From Rothesay we drove inland for 10 miles to Mount Stuart House, where all cars were assembled in the courtyard at the rear of the house. We gathered for a chat, some photography and walks in the amazing gardens were enjoyun before we entered the House.
…Mount Stuart House sits in 300 acres of gardens homing globally significant plant collections.
The House itself is a 19th Century building that takes your breath away, with large tapestries, stained glass windows, stunning ceilings and marble arches and staircases!
The rooms were fantastic, and we found out that one can be hired as a Bridal Suite!
…The weather on the day was glorious, and from the House we had a 7 mile coastal drive to the ferry at Rhubodach, where after crossing we drove up to The Rest and Be Thankful and then onto our final stop at the Loch Lomond Arms Hotel in Luss for tea and scones, with some of us enjoying the Loch’s shore.
…Again, a wonderful day full of friendship and lovely cars. Thanks to Paul Snee for organising the trip. We personally were so amazed by Bute that we are planning to return for a longer stay next time!
