Fancy something a little different for your MG day out in October? Then look no further and join us for a combined drive and afternoon tea aboard a lovingly restored steam train. How does that stoke your boiler?
We begin the day with a leisurely brunch at the Caulders Garden Centre, Newton Mearns. Enjoy a selection of delights for your late (or even second) breakfast from the Caulders menu. Cost is dependent on your level of breakfast desired but maximum would be around £6.95 pp. What ever you decide, remember that we need to be on our way no later than 11.30 am.
Suitably satiated, we head off on a scenic drive via Strathaven, the Clyde Valley, Almond Valley and Linlithgow until we wind up in sunny (hopefully) Bo’Ness. A route of approximately 58 miles, this should take no longer than around 2 hours getting us to Bo’Ness by our 13.40 hrs deadline to board the steam train in our reserved coach for afternoon tea. There are plenty of parking spaces and toilet facilities at the station and Departure is scheduled for 14.05 hrs. Once on board, enjoy a traditional afternoon tea of sandwiches, cakes and scones with clotted cream and jam served with a pot of coffee or tea.
On our return to the station we depart for home. As the last run of the year, this definitely one you should choo choo choose!
