Note: This Event is on a Saturday
UPDATE – Sadly, the run round the loch has had to be cancelled due to unforeseen circumstances related to the private road. That’s the bad news, the good news is that we will have a further short run arranged to take it’s place. The sail is still going ahead as planned so don’t panic!!
The run will start at Dobbies Garden Centre, Stirling (which is suspiciously close to the organisers house) and is scheduled for a 10am gathering with a 10.30am start which allows time for a small cup of something, if desired, before departure.
From the garden centre we will head off on the short drive to Loch Katrine where reserved parking is available for the MG’s. This will give the general public a chance to have a look round the cars and also give members the opportunity to demonstrate their knowledge of not just their cars, but the MGCC in general. Remember to mention the 25th Anniversary!
We will then board the steamship Sir Walter Scott for a scenic (cameras at the ready) one hour sail round the loch. The steamship Sir Walter Scott is the flagship and the jewel in the Loch Katrine Experience. With over 100 years of sailings to her name, this world famous steamship has captivated visitors for almost a century. Connecting every aspect of the Loch Katrine Experience, the steamship Sir Walter Scott brings together the best of adventure, relaxation and history – all in one experience.
On this 60-minute sailing, you will glide past stunning Trossachs landmarks such as Ben A’an and Ben Venue and the restaurant’s namesake location, Brenachoile, from the Gaelic for “above the trees” and look to gain a glimpse of the mountains around the loch.
As if this wasn’t exciting enough, once we complete our sail we will enjoy some of the best roads Scotland has to offer on our way to our finish point. In total, the drive will be around the 50 mile mark so hopefully suitable for some of the older cars.
Although there will be food available at the Loch Katrine centre for those who’d prefer, it’s hoped that on this occasion, members might bring their own picnic lunch to enjoy either before or during the trip on Sir Walter Scott. Hopefully this doesn’t lead to a mass shortage of Scotch Eggs and carrot cake in May but time will tell. Special pricing has been agreed for the club and the cost will be £11 per head (£10 for concessions), collected at registration, along with the normal charge for the run.
This really is an opportunity to see Loch Katrine from a new vantage point so add your name to the list and we’ll see you there!
If you have Booked your name will be on the List below.………………………………….Organiser’s List
