What a great start to our first lunch and in this special year and to celebrate our 25th year ..and the venue was at the stunning Airth Castle seated on the River Forth in the Falkirk area. Dating back to 13th Century and was owned by the Bruces Jacobite sympathizers were forced to sell in it 1715 after the failure of the rebellion.
We had an excellent attendance 66 booked of old members and quite a few new ones to celebrate with friends and share motoring memories. We even had, possibly one of the most famous families in Scotland, join us and may I say, also a member of the MG Caledonian centre Boyd Tunnock and one of our early members all those years ago and our special guest for the day along with Bruce Reidford the Finance Director of Thomas Tunnock Ltd .
The tables and room was expertly decorated with balloons, flowers, confetti and ribbons, that would do a bride proud – thank you to Liz Duncan for all her hard work and it took a lot of puff but it looked fantastic . !!.
Members were treated to a few MG Centre videos playing in the background of past events including our successful European event back in 2015 and many shows from 2016.
Also on display were are many trophies that only come out on very special occasions and this was one of those.
Boyd speech was spellbinding and humorous and a joy to listen to and yes it did have cars in there as well.
One of our centrepieces was a very large cake supplied by Boyd as a gift and who better to choose to cut the cake when the time was right but Boyd himself he was helped to cut by Nancy Crichton our very own club secretary.
Boyd also very kindly supplied some of his famous Caramel biscuits for all attendees and we would like to thank him for his continued sponsorship and support to the centre and hopefully see him at more of our events in the coming year.
Special thanks to Leslie Duncan for organising a very successful day.
